Mangaluru, August 6, 2023: Six passengers who had reserved tickets for IndiGo flight 6E 6162 from Bengaluru to Mangaluru found themselves stranded despite being at Kempegowda International Airport. This happened because the flight departed 12 minutes earlier than its scheduled time on Friday.

According to a government official among the passengers, the flight was originally supposed to take off at 2.55 pm, but it departed at 2.43 pm according to the information available on the airline’s website. The affected passengers expressed their frustration and protested the situation, but the airline eventually accommodated them on the next flight (6E-578) at 8.20 pm, which itself was delayed by half an hour.

The government official, who was traveling with a friend, stated that it is customary for airlines to inform passengers if there are any changes in the flight schedule. However, in their case, they received no notification and arrived at the airport on time. Consequently, they had to endure a six-hour wait before they could catch the next available flight to Mangaluru. As a result of the delay, they missed several important meetings scheduled for the day and didn’t reach home until 10 pm.

On the other hand, an IndiGo employee from the customer experience wing refuted the passengers’ claims and insisted that the flight had indeed left at the scheduled time. According to the employee, the flight was already out of the gate at 2.43 pm and officially departed the airport at 2.57 pm, considering "off-the-ground" as the departure time.
