
Kasargod, Sep 20, 2026: Six persons were injured, one of them critically, when two cars collided head-on with a lorry at Kanyappadi near Badiadka early Sunday morning.
Nine youths, all residents of Musodi in Uppala, were travelling in the two cars when the accident occurred. The injured were shifted to a private hospital in Kasargod for treatment.

Police suspect overspeeding to be the primary cause of the accident. The collision severely damaged both cars, while the lorry’s diesel and oil tanks were ruptured, spilling fuel onto the road and disrupting traffic.
A fire and rescue team led by senior officer Suku Varghese reached the spot and rescued the youths trapped inside the mangled vehicles. Fire officers K Vijithin Krishnan, Atul Ravi, C K Abhinand, N P Rakesh and O K Prajith took part in the rescue operation and cleared the spilled fuel to restore traffic.
Badiadka police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the accident.
