Mangalore, Nov 27, 2011: The Silk Mark Expo 2011, showcasing the best silk products from all over the country, will be held from Nov 29 to Dec 4.

 

The expo will be held at Karavali Utsava Grounds, displaying traditional saris such as Banarasi, Kanjeevaram, Thanchoi, Bandhni, Muga, Bomkai, Tussar, Muga, Chanderi, Gadwal, Khatan Silk, Kora Silk, Raw Silk, and others.

G. Lokanathan, the assistant director of the Central Silk Board, told reporters at a press meet held at Ladies Club on Nov 26 Saturday that the expo promotes fusion labels and that the Silk Mark tag, promoted by the Silk Mark Organization of India of the Union Ministry of Textiles, will be attached to the sari as a mark of its purity and originality. 


The expo will be held at Karavali Utsava Grounds, displaying traditional saris such as Banarasi, Kanjeevaram, Thanchoi, Bandhni, Muga, Bomkai, Tussar, Muga, Chanderi, Gadwal, Khatan Silk, Kora Silk, Raw Silk, and others. 


Besides, the expo will feature a lecture on breeding silk worms, sewing, silk conservation, weaving, and others. 


The press meet, held in the presence of Silk Mark Organization office bearers Shivakumar and Govindacharya, featured a ramp walk with attractive models including film actress Smitha, held to promote the silk saris.
