Shakuntala Shetty is Congress candidate from Puttur

Bangalore, April 16, 2013 :  Former Puttur MLA who recently joined the Congress has got a ticket to contest from Puttur constituency. Her name finds a mention in the  third list of seven candidates released by the Congress on April 15, Monday night. She will face Sanjeeva Matandoor of the BJP.

Shakuntala who had won from Puttur as a BJP candidate in 2004 elections, was however denied a ticket in the 2008 elections forcing her to contest as a rebel candidate. However, she had then lost at the hands of BJP’s Mallika Prasad. Though there were rumours that she may join the JD(S) or the KJP, Shaku had ultimately knocked at the doors of the Congress and was even successful. The Congress announced its third list of 7 candidates late night on Monday April 15.

Among other Congress candidates whose names find a mention in the third list is that of   former  minister C M Ibrahim from Bhadravathi.
