Puttur, April 18, 2013 : “ Former chief minister DV Sadananda Gowda who saw to it that I was kicked out of the BJP after hurling unnecessary allegations against me, ought to have contested against me in Puttur if he had the courage to do so,” said Shakuntala Shetty, former MLA and Congress candidate from Puttur.
She was speaking at a party workers meeting after filing her nomination on April 17, Wednesday. Shetty further said the BJP men who were indulging in immoral acts had no moral right to hurl allegations against the Congress leaders. She said she was now contesting from Puttur to regain what she had lost while in the BJP.
She urged the Congress workers not to be overconfident, but sincerely work for the success of the party.
Kavu Hemanath Shetty, Puttur Block Congress President who too was a strong aspirant for a Congress ticket from Puttur, said there was no differences in the party and that Shakuntala Shetty was their unanimous choice.
N Sudhaker Shetty, former Puttur Block Congress chief, Subhas Rai,Mohammad Badagannur, Samethadka Gopalkrishna Bhat and others were present on the occasion.
As many as 75 men who had earlier identified themselves with the Swabhimani Vedike joined the Congress on the occasion.
