Seven-year-old girl dies after honeybee attack in Puttur; cousin critical

Puttur, Oct 12, 2025: A seven-year-old girl died following a honeybee attack in Padnur village, while her cousin remains in critical condition.

The deceased, Jisha, daughter of Kiran from Kootelu, was a Class 2 student at Tenkila Vivekananda Kannada Medium School. Her cousin Pratyush (10), a Class 5 student, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment in Mangaluru.

The incident occurred on October 10 evening when the two were walking home after getting off their school vehicle near Sediyapu Kootelu. A local resident, Narayan (40), who tried to rescue them, was also stung but is recovering.

Jisha, initially admitted to a hospital in Puttur, was later shifted to Mangaluru, where she succumbed on October 11. The incident has left the family devastated.
