Seven arrested for abduction of fishermen, robbing fish catch

Udupi, Mar 02, 2024: Udupi Police have arrested seven persons in connection with the recent incident of robbing of fish catch worth lakhs of rupees and abduction of seven fishermen on board a fishing boat that had ventured into fishing from Malpe.

 

Those arrested are Subrahmanya Kharvi (34), Raghavendra Kharvi (38), Harish Narayan Kharvi (40), Nagesh Narayan (42), Gopal Madhav (38), Santosh Devayya (43) and Lakshman (50).

The accused had intercepted the boat when it had developed a technical snag and then robbed fish catch worth Rs 8 lakhs and  7500 litres of diesel and had kidnapped the fishermen.
