Senior priest Fr. Casimir John Mathaias is no more

Mangalore, Jan 8, 2012: Rev. Fr. Casimir John Mathaias, a senior priest in the Mangalore Diocese, died on Jan 7 Saturday at 11:45 a.m. at a private hospital in Mangalore, at the age of 94. 

His funeral mass will be held at St. Vincent Ferrar Church in Valencia at 4:00 p.m. on Jan 9 Monday and his body will be laid to rest in the priest’s cemetery in Valencia

                             

Fr. Casimir was born in Kinnigoli on Nov 9 1917 to Joachim and Rosa Maria Mathaias. He studied at St. Joseph’s Seminary and was give Holy Orders in the Diocese of Mangalore on April 7 1947. 

He has served as the assistant parish priest of Cordel and Bantwal, the parish priest of Ukkinadka, Thannirbhavi, Padukone, Ullal-Panir, Palimar, and Hospet, and the priest-in-charge of Thannirbhavi. Having retired from his priestly duties in 1988, he lived in Vianney Home in Kankanady.
