Senior Mangaluru Diocese Priest Fr Victor Machado passes away at 81

Mangaluru, Aug 18, 2026: Senior priest of the Mangaluru Catholic Diocese, Fr Victor Machado, 81, passed away on Monday at St Joseph Vaz Home in Jeppu.

A native of Bantwal, Fr Machado was ordained a priest on October 16, 1969. He served in various churches and institutions under the Mangaluru Diocese for more than five decades, making significant contributions to society and the education of students.

Fr Machado began his ministry as an assistant priest in 1970. He later served as a teaching staff member at St Joseph’s Seminary in Jeppu before pursuing higher studies in Rome. After returning, he served as a professor and held several key pastoral and administrative positions.

His services included serving as a priest at Rosario Cathedral, administrator of Jeppu Church, rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, parish priest of Bejai Church and Cordel Church, director of the Pastoral Institute, and chaplain at the Little Sisters of the Poor in Maroli. He retired from active service in 2025.

Funeral on August 18

The funeral Mass and burial of Fr Victor Machado will be held at 3:30 pm on August 18 at St Vincent Ferrer Church in Valencia.
