Seeliya chosen for Intl speed skating tourney at Singapore

Mangalore, April 8, 2013 :  A student of Lourdes Central School in Mangalore, has been  chosen to participate in the international speed skating tournament to be held at Singapore from April 8 to 14.


Simith 1Seeliya Simith, a tenth standard student and a member of Mangalore Roller Skating Association, already has an excellent track record in speed skating  and has bagged  several medals in ice skating contests held at Shimla. She has even won the fastest ice skater award and championship this year.


Seeliya who had also participated in the Asian Short Track Speed Skating held at Beijing China, stood 17th in the contest. The  Indian Ice Skating Association which recognized her talent and achievements, has now chosen Seeliya for the Singapore tournament.


Seeliya is the daughter of P A Muhammed Katipalla and Asma from Pandeshwar in the city. She is being coached by Mahesh Kumar and international trainers, Avadhut Tawade  and Srikant Mysore.
