Second cruise vessel of the season calls at New Mangalore Port

Mangaluru, Feb 20, 2026: The New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA) on Thursday welcomed the second cruise vessel of the current season, M.S. Island Sky, at the Port’s Cruise Terminal.

The Bahamas-flagged vessel, managed by Salen Shipmanagement AB, arrived at 7.30 am from Mormugao carrying 95 passengers and 70 crew members.

The tourists received a warm traditional welcome upon arrival. NMPA, in coordination with various stakeholders, had made extensive preparations to ensure a seamless and pleasant experience for the visitors.

Special attractions at the terminal included a Meditation Centre set up by the Ministry of AYUSH, free Wi-Fi connectivity provided by NMPA, and a selfie stand depicting Mangaluru’s traditional Yakshagana art form installed by the Ministry of Tourism, adding cultural and experiential value to the visit.

Passengers later embarked on guided tours to prominent destinations in and around Mangaluru, including the Kudroli Gokarnath Temple, St Aloysius Chapel, local markets and the Kalbavi Cashew Factory.

To facilitate smooth immigration clearance for the arriving passengers, NMPA undertook advance planning and close coordination with authorities, significantly reducing waiting time and enhancing overall passenger convenience.

After a successful port call, the vessel departed at 1 pm, with passengers carrying fond memories of their visit to Mangaluru.

The arrival of cruise vessels underscores the Port’s growing role in promoting cruise tourism and contributing to the local economy. NMPA reaffirmed its commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and seamless passenger services to position the region as an emerging cruise tourism destination.
