Schools to have 18-day Dasara holidays from Sept 20 to Oct 7

Bengaluru, Sep 20, 2025: School children have reason to rejoice as the state government has announced Dasara holidays for all students studying in government, aided, and private schools across Karnataka. The holidays will begin from September 20 and continue until October 7, 2025.

The education department has already released a comprehensive guideline for holidays and school activities for the 2025-26 academic year, under which the Dasara break has been scheduled. Classes for the second term of the academic year will commence on October 8, 2025, and continue until April 10, 2026.

The Dasara holidays aim to allow students to also witness the world-famous Mysuru Dasara celebrations. Accordingly, the department has declared a total of 18 days of festival holidays for government schools.

Students are also instructed to attend the Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti programs on October 2, which are mandatory.
