
Mangaluru, Jun 23, 2026: Sahyadri College of Engineering & Management, Mangaluru, and Kristu Jayanti Deemed-to-be University, Bengaluru, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on June 22, marking the beginning of a strategic academic partnership aimed at enhancing educational quality, fostering innovation, and creating new opportunities for students and faculty members of both institutions.
The MoU was formalised during a function held at the Sahyadri campus in the presence of over 400 faculty members and students. The event was attended by Kristu Jayanti University Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr. Augustine George CMI and CHRO Rev. Fr. Joshy Mathew CMI. Representing Sahyadri College were Chairman and MLC Manjunath Bhandary, Principal Dr. S. S. Injanageri, Administrator Krishna Hegde and MBA Director Dr. Vishal Samartha.
Speaking on the occasion, Manjunath Bhandary expressed happiness over the collaboration and recalled his visit to Kristu Jayanti University in April this year. Appreciating the institution’s academic culture and administration, he said the guidance of a reputed university would greatly benefit Sahyadri’s newly introduced BBA, BCA and MCA programmes. He also shared his vision of developing Sahyadri College into a deemed-to-be university in the future.
Following an audio-visual presentation on Kristu Jayanti University, Vice Chancellor Rev. Dr. Augustine George CMI delivered the keynote address. He highlighted the university’s growth from nine students in 1999 to more than 18,000 students at present and stressed the importance of continuous learning, institutional collaboration and a strong sense of belonging in achieving success. He noted that partnerships between educational institutions contribute significantly to community development and national progress.
Rev. Fr. Joshy Mathew CMI underlined the importance of dedication and commitment in professional life and expressed confidence that the collaboration would create meaningful opportunities for students under the guidance of visionary educational leaders.
Principal Dr. S. S. Injanageri presented an overview of Sahyadri College and spoke about the institution’s aspiration to attain university status. He acknowledged the support and leadership of Chairman Manjunath Bhandary and thanked the Kristu Jayanti University team for partnering with Sahyadri in the academic initiative.
The programme began with a welcome address by Dr. Vishal Samartha. Dr. Sushma V compered the event and proposed the vote of thanks.
The MoU is expected to strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions through collaborative initiatives, knowledge sharing and student-centric programmes.
