Saha’s painting adjudged the best at national level

Manipal, July 31, 2012 : A painting by a student of International Centre for Applied Sciences (ICAS) has won the first prize in a national competition.


earth 1According to a press release issued by Manipal University on July 30, Monday, Tirthak Saha’s painting, which depicts earth in peril, with melting ice caps and warming earth, won the first prize.

Mr. Saha received the prize from Ashwani Kumar at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on the occasion of the Foundation Day of the Ministry of Earth Sciences on July 27, in the presence of Nobel Laureate R. K. Pachauri.

The Ministry of Earth Sciences held this competition in several institutions all over the country and sent the prize winning paintings to New Delhi, where Saha’s painting was declared to be the best.

Saha’s painting won the first place in the inter-collegiate competition held in Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) on April 22 on the occasion of Earth Day. A wide range of competitions such as slogan writing, quiz, debate, collage, and poster making were held in the university on this occasion.
