SSLC and PUC toppers felicitated in Town Hall

Mangalore, June 23, 2012: The Muslim Educational Institutions Federation of DK and Udupi and the Minority Guidance Forum organized a special program to felicitate SSLC and PUC achievers at Town Hall. 


Delivering the address on the occasion, Alva’s Education Foundation Chairman Dr. M. Mohan Alva flayed coaching centres and tutorials for converting education into a business while simultaneously admitting that this is because majority of the educational institutions are unable to train their students for competitive exams such as AIEE, CET, and others.

Speaking on the occasion, Bearys Group Chairman Syed Mohammed Beary urged students to learn life values such as hard work and perseverance, adding that only sacrifices lead to success. 


Mayor Gulzar Banu inaugurated the event and said that she is happy to note that Muslim girls are excelling in academics. Stating that she got married at the age of 14 and got her first daughter married immediately after SSLC, she said that her second daughter firmly stated that she wanted to continue her studies. She further said that her second daughter was the topper in Govinda Dasa College, completed her MBA, and is today the manager of a bank. 


B. A. Moideen, former education minister, presided. B. M. Mumthaz Ali, president of Al Badriya Educational Institutions, also addressed the gathering. 


The organizers felicitated Prajwal Kumar of Alva’s College, who scored 613 in SSLC and became the state’s Kannada medium topper; Misriya Suhana of Nobel High School, who scored 615 and became the Muslim topper of the district; and Sahul Irshad of Vivekananda College in Puttur, who scored 566 to become the PUC district topper. 


Among the dignitaries present were Moosabba P. Beary, president of MGF; B. A. Nazeer, general secretary of MEIF; Nisar F. Mohammed, general secretary of MGF; and Moideen Kunhi, chairman of Al Furqan.
