The injured are Haider Ali, a rickshaw driver, and Hasan Ali, his brother, who were immediately rushed to hospital.

The two, along with a couple of Sunni clerics, were putting up banners announcing the convocation of the Muhimmath Sunni Educational Institution in Kasargod. Haider Ali reported that a group of 3 masked men assaulted them for no reason. One of them was Ganesh of Kettikal, he added.

He said that the group continued to assault them even though they pleaded with them and said that they would remove all the posters.

The Kavoor police have registered a case.

The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has condemned the attack. SDPI leaders Saifullah Vamanjoor and Nawaz Ulla have issued press releases in which they state that the police should immediate arrest the Sangh Parivar members who assaulted the young men.

They also urged the DC to make sure that such incidents do not take place again.
