SIT questions 11 people for financial support to Chinnayya in Dharmasthala case

Belthangady, Sep 23, 2025: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has begun questioning individuals who provided financial assistance to Chinnayya, the complainant currently in jail, in connection with the Dharmasthala case. SIT sources said notices have been issued to 11 people who transferred money to Chinnayya.

Six individuals who transferred funds have already been questioned. Some of them are supporters of Mahesh Shetty Timarodi. Approximately Rs. 3.5 lakh was deposited into Chinnayya’s account. An official, who wished to remain anonymous, stated that around six months ago, a transfer was also made from the account of Girish Mattannavar’s wife to Chinnayya’s account.

Meanwhile, authorities have not yet decided whether to file cases related to the seven skulls and skeletal remains recovered. Magistrate approval has been sought in this regard.

Additionally, Chinnayya, who is in judicial custody in Shivamogga for allegedly giving false testimony, may be recording his statement under Section 183 at the Belthangady court on Tuesday. During the SIT investigation, weapons were recovered from a house, and a case under the Arms Act has been filed against Timarodi, who has not yet appeared for questioning.
