Mangalore, Nov 4, 2012: Addressing the gathering at a rally organized by the Students’ Islamic Organization (SIO), urging for campuses free of communalism, Fr. Ronnie Prabhu, assistant bishop of Mangalore, said that the youth should give importance only to major things in religion and neglect minor issues. Although religious awakening is good, fanaticism and blind belief is not good, he said, adding that hating people belonging to other faiths does not help religious people.
The demonstration was held in front of the DC’s office on Saturday, Nov 3.
SIO President Mohammed Azharuddin said that college campuses are now becoming increasingly communal and urged people to adopt the universal approach.
Shanthi Prakashana Manager Mohammed Kunhi said that India’s strength is multi-culturalism. Stating that capitalist ideology is suppressing the powerless, he said that this is the cause for rising communal unrest in the country. Stating that India never had any ties with Israel, he said that today the intelligence of India and Israel work together as a result of which the Babri Masjid was demolished and there is widespread communal unrest.
JIH State President Abdullah Javed, SIO President Ashfaq Ahmed Shareef, and many others were also present.
