SAC offers job oriented two diploma certificate courses

Mangalore, Oct 25, 2013: St Aloysius College (autonomous) has been granted with ’Community College’ status by the UGC as per the recommendation of the state government from the present academic year (2013-14).

Speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on October 245, Friday, College principal Fr Swebert D’Silva said that this unique scheme of the government of India provides an opportunity for the students deprived of degree education after PU course and attain a job-oriented higher education.


He also said that the course will be offered in three stages including certificate and diploma courses with the six months duration and associate degree course with one year duration. The government has sanctioned the amount of Rs 40 lakhs for the programme.


The college offers two diploma programmes like for 6 months with duration of 240 hours each for the students with the minimum qualification is PUC.


The programme assures job guarantee since it runs with industry partnership. The course will comprise of classroom teaching, practical and industry internships with no course fee. During the internship, the students will be given the allowance of Rs 1,000 per month.

College coordinator Dr A Lourdusamy, registrar Dr A M Narahari, vice-principal John D’Silva and course coordinator Santosh Notegar were present.
