Rowdy sheeter Vinod Shettigar murder case in Hiriyadka prison : Four convicted

Udupi, Mar 28, 2019: The Udupi District and Sessions Court has on March 27, Wednesday convicted all the four accused in the case of murder of rowdy sheeter Vinod Shettigar at the district prison at Hiriadka  eight years ago. The Court will announce the quantum of punishment on today.

Those convicted are Muttappa alias Suresh Balegara (36) of Baikady , his brother Nagaraj Balegara(33), Sheikh Riyaz Ahmed (33) of Mysuru and Sharanappa Amarapura (33) Gangavathi. The Court has acquitted Raghavendra alias Raghu of Kukkikatte Indira Nagar while another accused Pitti Nagesh  of Indira Nagar has already been murdered.

The murder  had taken place on  January 14, 2011. The Court had heard a total of 35 witnesses out of the total 48 witnesses in this case.

The four had eliminated Shettigar after conspiring with Pitti Ganesh. The latter was  murdered by Shettigar’s accomplices in a case of revenge on September 11, 2014.
