Mangaluru, May 03, 2021: Deputy Commissioner Dr Rajendra K V has said that retail sale of fish or purchase by the public at the fisheries port has been banned.
He was presiding over a meeting held at his office on May 3, Monday evening to discuss the issues relating to adherence of Covid guidelines at old Mangalore Port. Officials of the Department of Fisheries also participated in the meeting.
The DC said retail sale and purchase of fish has been banned in order to ensure adherence to Covid protocol. The measure has been taken to avoid crowds that may lead to a surge in Covid cases. He said stern action would be taken against those who fail to adhere to the rules.
Members of the general public who are seen unnecessarily loitering in the port area will also face action, the DC said.
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Fisheries Development Corporation Chairman Nithin Kumar, Mayor Premananda Shetty, City Corporation Commissioner Akshy Sridhar and others participated in the meeting.
