Respect the national flag, instructs DC Subhod Yadav

DC  Mangalore, Jan 25: DC Subodh Yadav has issued a set of guidelines to be followed by people who wish to hoist the national flag on Republic Day.


Explaining the matter further, the DC said that, according to the new national flag rules that were enforced on Jan 26, 2002, private establishments, citizens, and educational institutions can hoist the national flag, provided they respect it and treat it as sacred.


Certain flag-hoisting guidelines are as follows:

The national flag should be hoisted after sunrise and taken down before sunset.
Torn, discolored, soiled, and crumpled flags should not be hoisted.
The national flag should not be used for any other purpose.
Plastic national flags should not be used.
Those who disrespect the national flag will be penalized.
If national flags are hoisted over buildings, care should be taken to see that they are visible.
The national flag should not be touched to the ground and should not be allowed to get wet.
The image of the national flag should not be printed on handkerchiefs, packing material, towels, and other material.
The public should report any violation of the above-mentioned rules to the nearest taluk office, police station, deputy commissioner, or assistant deputy commissioner.
