Mangaluru, May 26, 2022: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr K V Rajendra has directed all religious places to seek permission to use loudspeakers within 15 days.
He also stated that permission for the use of loudspeakers for all religious, educational and public functions is mandatory.
A committee has been formed after a meeting of district level officials to check sound pollutin as per the Sound Pollution Control Rules 2000 and Environment Protection Act 1986.
In the event any religious place fails to get permission within 15 days, then the concerned persons will have to remove the loudspeakers voluntarily from those places failing which the loudspeakers would be removed by the authorities concerned, the DC has stated.
As per the rules, public must mandatorily seek permission for use of loudspeakers for any function between 6 and and 10 pm. Anyone found using loudspeakers between 10 pm and 6 am will face action, the DC said.
