Rationalists’ association criticizes CM for being superstitious

Mangalore February 4, 2011: The Federation of Indian Rationalists Association has criticized B. S. Yeddyurappa, the chief minister of Karnataka, for allegedly getting involved with soothsayers, black magicians, and trantriks.

Pointing out the Mr. Yeddyurappa is becoming increasingly superstitious, Dr. Narendra Nayak, the president of the federation, said that the CM has allegedly used black magic rituals to come to power and is now accusing the opposition of using black magic to pull him down. He also criticized the CM’s habit of visiting temples, mutts, and other places with supposed supernatural powers to ward off evil.

Labeling the CM as a “ritualistic maniac,” Dr. Nayak said that the CM has admitted in Mysore that he has been advised by his family priest to sleep naked to ward off the effects of black magic rituals allegedly performed by his political rivals to overthrow him. In making such admissions, the CM has publicly lowered the esteem of his office, opined Dr. Nayak. Stating that the chief minister is free to sleep as he likes, Dr. Nayak said that, if he sleeps naked to ward off the evil effects of black magic rituals, the rationalists’ association has the right to ask him for evidence of the same. Dr. Nayak also offered the required help to help the CM lead a normal life.

Dr. Nayak further said that the CM is openly demonstrating that is unfit to be the chief minister of a state that is internationally renowned as the world’s “software capital” and is the home of several prominent institutes of science. Alleging that the CM has forgotten that he is bound by certain constitutional provisions since he is the constitutional authority of the executive in Karnataka, Dr. Nayak said that, according to Article 51, citizens are duty bound to develop the spirit of humanism and scientific temper.

He concluded by stating that the CM is doing injustice to the Indian Constitution and is openly demonstrating that he is unfit to be the CM by getting involved in black magic rituals.
