
Mangaluru/Udupi, Feb 18, 2026: As the crescent moon of the holy month of Ramzan was not sighted on Tuesday, Ramzan fasting will officially begin on Thursday, February 19, in the coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.
As per the directive of Dakshina Kannada district Khazi Al-Haj Thwaka Ahmed Musliyar, S.M. Rasheed Haji, treasurer of the Zinath Baksh Central Juma Masjid and Eidgah Mosque in Mangaluru, confirmed that fasting will commence from Thursday.
According to a statement by B.G. Haneef Haji, president of the Ullal Dargah, Ullal Khazi A.P. Abubakker Musliyar has also declared Thursday as the beginning of the holy month.
Meanwhile, Udupi district Khazi M. Abdul Hameed Musliyar announced that since the moon was not sighted on Tuesday evening, the month of Sha’ban will be completed on Wednesday, and Ramzan fasting will begin the following day.
