Rajya Sabha MP Oscar Fernandes inaugurates Mangalore United Cricket Academy

Mangalore, Jan 18, 2012 : Oscar Fernandes, the Rajya Sabha MP, inaugurated the Mangalore United Cricket Academy at Hotel Ocean Pearl on Jan 17 Tuesday at 10:30 a.m.

In his inaugural address, he spoke of the need to identify and train cricket talent in DK, owing to which a well-equipped cricket ground is very important. He promised maximum financial assistance from the Rajya Sabha funds for the purpose.

Yogish Bhat, the deputy speaker of the state legislative assembly, presided and said in his presidential address that the government intends to construct a cricket ground by the end of year and that he is discussing the issue with CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda.

Academy President B. A. Moideen Bava delivered the welcome address.

The trustees of the academy, Shridevi Education Trust Chairman Sadananda Shetty, CMD of Fiza Group B. M. Farooq, Mohammed Kunhi, CA S. S. Nayak, Manohar Amin, Ivan D’Souza, Mumtaz Ali, B. M. Hyder Ali, Mithun Rai, and others were present on the occasion.
