Srinivas Rao, the director of the Srinivas Group of Institution, was the chief guest. He said that the modern world is so competitive that parents force their children to excel in studies, music, dance, and other activities without bothering to find out what the child is really interested in. As a result of this, children are unable to show interest in anything. Many children spend a lot of time watching television; and ultimately, they lose their interest in academic as well as extracurricular activities.

U K Kumarnath, the city editor of Vijaya Karnataka, presided over the function, and said that parents must encourage their children to participate in all the competitions not for the purpose of winning or losing, but just enhance their sense of self-esteem.

Prof Devdas K, the principal of SDM College and president of Ragataranga, made the welcome speech.
