Mangalore, Jan 15, 2010: The Roman and Catherine Lobo School for the Blind (RCLSB) celebrated its first Annual Day on Jan 13, 2011.

Mr. Dinesh, RCLSB teacher, marked the beginning of the programme with an invocation, following which Mrs. Vanaja, RCLSB teacher, delivered the welcome address. The chief guests of the event were Shri K. S. Balachandra Rao of Canara Bank; Shri B. R. Somayaji, the managing director of S. L. Ceramics Pvt. Ltd; and Shri Ananthakrishna, the chairman of Karnataka Bank Ltd.

Director of RCLSB Dr. U. V. Shenoy spoke of the aims and objectives of the school and the achievements of the Seva Bharathi during the past 2 decades. Principal Calistus D’Sa delivered a detailed annual report.

M. R. Somayaji promised all help to the school in his address. Mr. Balachandra Rao said in his keynote address that a number of opportunities are given to differently abled people at Canara Bank. In his presidential address, Mr. Ananthakrishna spoke of the high levels of self-esteem and self-confidence exhibited by differently abled people.

Ms. Divya proposed the vote of thanks, after which a Yakshagana prasanga called “Veera Kusha Lava” was performed by the students of the school. Mr. Ravi Alevuraya of Varkady directed and conducted this prasanga.
