Puttur rape and cheating case: Activists who promised marriage after DNA test go missing

Mangalore Today News Network

Puttur, Oct 10, 2025: In a shocking twist to the Puttur case where a young woman was deceived with a false promise of marriage and later gave birth to a child, DNA test results have confirmed that the accused youth is indeed the father of the child. However, those who earlier tried to mediate and promised to settle the issue through marriage have now gone missing. Their sudden disappearance after the DNA confirmation has angered the victim’s family.

The accused, Shrikrishna J Rao, son of BJP leader P.G. Jagannivas Rao from Puttur, had allegedly promised marriage to the young woman but later betrayed her. Following the incident, several activists and community leaders had come forward to support the victim, visiting her home and assuring her family that the accused would marry her. Among them was BJP leader Muralikrishna Hasantadka, who had even convinced the accused’s family to agree to the marriage.

Shrikrishna, who was arrested earlier on charges of cheating, was later released on bail. Some activists had cast doubts about whether the child was indeed his, leading to the decision to conduct a DNA test. The report has now confirmed that Shrikrishna is the biological father of the child.

However, after the DNA results were made public, those who had supported the victim have remained silent, and none of the pro-Hindu organizations — which usually speak out in such cases — have voiced support for the woman. As days pass, the case is becoming increasingly complicated, and people in Puttur are eagerly watching how it will ultimately unfold.
