
Puttur, December 22, 2025: The Uppinangady Police have arrested a man and recovered an ambulance that was stolen from near the Gundya check post in Dakshina Kannada district.
The arrested accused has been identified as Shodan (22), a resident of Karkala in Udupi district. He was apprehended in Hassan with the assistance of the Hassan district police.
According to the complaint, Suresh (46), a resident of Shiradi in Kadaba taluk, works as an ambulance driver. As part of his routine, he used to park the ambulance near the Gundya check post every night after locking it and return home.
On the night of December 19, Suresh parked the ambulance at the usual spot near the check post. Anticipating a possible emergency call and for the convenience of an alternate driver, he had left the key inside the vehicle.
The next morning, when he returned to check the ambulance, he found that it had been stolen.
Based on the complaint, the Uppinangady Police registered a case under Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, and launched an investigation.
During the course of the investigation, the police traced and arrested the accused. After interrogation, Shodan was produced before the court. The stolen ambulance was successfully recovered.
