Puttur: Woman killed in domestic dispute; husband attempts suicide

Puttur, Mar 20, 2026: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband following a domestic dispute at Golthila near Kattatharu in Ariyadka village of Puttur taluk on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Savithri (42), a native of Kumaramangala. The accused, Purushottama alias Bairappa, is a resident of Emetti.

According to preliminary reports, a heated argument between the couple escalated into violence, during which the husband allegedly murdered his wife. He later attempted suicide and was rushed to a hospital in Mangaluru, where he is said to be in critical condition.

Puttur Rural police visited the scene and carried out an inspection. The body has been taken into custody, and further legal procedures are underway. A detailed investigation into the incident is ongoing.
