The deceased has been identified as Moksha (17), son of Vasanth Amin and Jayashree, residents of Paade in Ramakunja village. Moksha died of a gunshot injury at his residence on the evening of January 24. According to initial reports, the boy allegedly shot himself using a licensed gun belonging to his father. Police had also shared similar preliminary information at the time.

Senior police officers visited the spot, conducted a mahazar, and launched an investigation. A team from the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), Mangaluru, arrived at the scene around 9 pm on January 24 and collected evidence until about 4 am on January 25. The body was later shifted to Deralakatte hospital, where the post-mortem examination was conducted in the evening, after which the body was handed over to the family.

Vasanth Amin (55), who was admitted to AJ Hospital in Mangaluru, has undergone surgery and is currently in the intensive care unit. He is reported to be recovering. Sources close to the family claim that bullet fragments were found in his body during the surgery, though there has been no official confirmation.

Confusion continues to surround the incident, especially after the boy’s mother, Jayashree, lodged a complaint accusing her husband, Vasanth Amin, of murdering their son Moksha. According to the police’s preliminary version, following a domestic altercation, Moksha allegedly stabbed his father in the abdomen with a knife and later shot himself in the face using an SBBL gun licensed in his father’s name, dying on the spot.

However, the complaint filed by the mother has raised serious questions and further deepened the mystery surrounding the case. The truth is expected to emerge only after a detailed police investigation.
