Puttur: Pickup overturns, driver dies on the spot

Puttur, Feb 12, 2026: A pickup vehicle transporting centering materials overturned at Kanaraje in Tekkara village on Wednesday, February 11, killing the driver on the spot.

The vehicle reportedly plunged from an upper road onto a lower road. Hemachandra (32), son of Harishchandra and a resident of Alakke, who was driving the pickup, suffered severe injuries and died at the scene. Another occupant, Ummarabba (51), who was travelling in the vehicle, sustained injuries and has been admitted to a hospital.

Hemachandra was unmarried and the sole breadwinner of his family.

A case has been registered at the Puttur Traffic Police Station in connection with the incident.
