Puttur: Moving car catches fire on NH-75; driver, passenger escape unhurt

Puttur, July 18, 2026: A moving car caught fire near Shiradigudde, close to Golitottu on National Highway 75, on Friday evening. The driver and a passenger escaped unharmed after noticing smoke and flames from the vehicle.

The car was travelling from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. As it reached Shiradigudde near Golitottu, smoke and flames suddenly emerged from the engine compartment. Sensing the danger, the driver immediately pulled over to the roadside and, along with the passenger, safely exited the vehicle.

Water from a tanker belonging to KNR, the company executing the NH-75 four-laning project, was used to extinguish the fire. The blaze completely gutted the engine section of the car, while the rest of the vehicle sustained partial damage.
