Puttur: Man brandishing sword in public arrested

Puttur, July 15, 2025: A man was arrested on Sunday afternoon in Bolluvaru, near Puttur, after he was seen wielding a sword and threatening the public.

Upon receiving information from locals, personnel from the Puttur Town Police Station rushed to the spot and apprehended the accused with the help of the public.

The arrested individual has been identified as Raju (45), a native of Hassan, who was reportedly residing in Bantwal at the time.

The police have registered a case at the Puttur Town Police Station under Crime No. 59/2025, invoking Section 25(18)(b) of the Indian Arms Act and Section 110 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigation is underway.
