Puttur: Interstate MDMA racket busted; 3 Kerala men arrested with drugs and weapon

Puttur, Feb 20, 2026: On February 18, 2026, a vehicle illegally transporting MDMA from Puttur towards Sullia was intercepted and inspected by the police. The accused have been identified as Mohammed Ajmal C @ Ajju (30) from Kozhikode, Kerala; Ismail (28) from Wayanad district, Kerala; and Sanseer (27) from Kozhikode, Kerala.

During the inspection, police found that the accused were carrying a lethal weapon (a sword) in the vehicle and were in possession of 53.58 grams of banned MDMA, valued at approximately ₹5,38,800, intended for sale.


Drug

The police seized one car, the lethal weapon, mobile phones, and ₹10,000 in cash from the accused. A case has been registered at Puttur Rural Police Station under Crime No. 25/2026 under Sections 8C, 22(C), and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985, and Section 25(1B)(B) of the Arms Act. The accused have been arrested and further investigation is underway.

The accused were reportedly supplying narcotics to Kerala, Goa, and Karnataka. Cases have already been registered against them in Kozhikode, Kannur, and Wayanad districts of Kerala, and they had been absconding. Mohammed Ajmal C @ Ajju is also an accused in Crime No. 04/2026 registered at Puttur Rural Police Station under Sections 8C and 21(b) of the NDPS Act, 1985. Similarly, his associate Ismail has a narcotics trafficking case registered against him in Kozhikode district, Kerala.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Puttur Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Pramod Kumar, Puttur Rural Police Station Inspector Sunil Kumar, Dakshina Kannada DSB Inspector Nanda Kumar, Sub-Inspectors Gunapala and Sushma J. Bhandari, along with special team members Adram, Prashanth Rai, Prashanth M., Praveen Rai, Harshith, and other staff including Parameshwara Gowda, Harish, Subrahmanya, Bheemasena, Bhavith Rai, Nagaraj, Karthik, district computer staff Divakar and Sampath, and home guards.
