
Puttur, Feb 16, 2026: The death of K.C. Varghese (73), a resident of Koppamaderi in Nelyadi village, has been confirmed as a murder, following which Uppinangady police have registered a case. Investigation revealed that the deceased had severe injuries on his head and other parts of his body.
In connection with this case, the police have taken three people into custody, including the deceased’s son. The detainees have been identified as K.V. Thomas alias Wilson, son of Varghese and a resident of Nelyadi, Kadaba taluk; C.T. Raju alias Varghese, resident of Arasinmakki, Beltangadi taluk; and Chakoch from Nelyadi.
The incident occurred approximately six days ago. K.V. Thomas himself had lodged a complaint at Uppinangady police station. The police visited the scene, conducted an inquest, and a forensic team also examined the location.
The post-mortem of the body was conducted at K.S. Hegde Hospital in Deralakatte. According to the medical report, Varghese died due to severe head injuries. Further investigation confirmed that it was a case of murder. Following this, the police have registered a murder case and are continuing the investigation.
