Puttur: Case filed against Bharat Kumdel for communal hate speech

Puttur, May 16, 2025: A case has been registered against right-wing leader Bharat Kumdel on charges of delivering a speech inciting communal hatred during a public event held at the Jain Bhavan on Bypass Road in Puttur Kasaba village, located in Puttur taluk.

The incident occurred on the evening of May 15. Officials stated that the speech made by the accused disturbed public peace and harmony.

Following the incident, a case was filed at the Puttur Town Police Station under Crime Number 35/2025, invoking Sections 196 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023. Further investigation is underway.
