Puttur: Bandh over trader assault draws good rsponse; Eid Milad procession held peacefully

Puttur, Aug 25, 2026: A bandh was observed in Puttur on Tuesday in protest against the alleged assault on traders at Darbe. The bandh was called by the Hindu Jagarana Vedike and received a good response, with several shops and commercial establishments remaining closed.

Auto-rickshaw drivers also extended their support to the bandh. However, government buses continued to operate as usual.

Eid Milad Procession Held Peacefully Amid Bandh

Meanwhile, Eid Milad celebrations were held across Dakshina Kannada district on Tuesday. An Eid Milad procession was taken out in Puttur amid the bandh and passed off peacefully under tight police security.

The Milad rally was held at Bappalige in Puttur, with police personnel deployed along the route to ensure smooth conduct of the procession.

Eid Milad processions were also held at various places across Dakshina Kannada district.
