Punjalakatte mishap : Brain dead youth’s vital organs donated

Mangaluru, Dec 29, 2021: The vital organs of a youth from Punjalakatte who  was critically injured in a road mishap and was declared brain dead, have been  donated.

Satish, a resident of Moorje in Punjalakatte who was critically injured in a bike accident on Sunday was admitted to the Fr Muller Hospital in Mangaluru. He was in a state of coma and doctors had declared him brain dead on Tuesday. In this backdrop his family decided to donate his vital organs.

 

After the necessary surgical procedures at Fr Muller Hospital, the heart  was sent to Manipal Hospital in  Bengaluru and  liver to the Narayana Hridayalaya in Bengaluru. Zero traffic arrangements were made for the ambulance carrying the organs which headed to the airport. From there the organs were transported by flight. One kidney  was sent to KMC Manipal and another to KS Hegde Hospital through  green corridor.
