Referring to the incident of Saturday morning and its tragic consequences, he said that it proves that the police department and the district administration is unable to do anything to prevent illegal trafficking of cattle.

Stating that Bajrang Dal workers are forced to identify cases of illegal cattle trafficking, he said that the Mangalore police commissioner says that the police are not being informed on time to curb such activities. He said that the incident of Saturday, in which a truck carrying cattle turned turtle killing 18 cattle, has hurt the sentiments of those who worship the cow.

Stating that the population of cows is decreasing rapidly, he warned that this will soon lead to shortage of milk.

Sharan Pumpwell, the divisional convener of the Mangalore Division of the Bajrang Dal, said that police squads must be formed to fight illegal cattle trafficking in the city.
