Private bus suffers brake failure in Mangaluru; driver’s presence of mind averts major tragedy

Mangaluru, Jun 30, 2026: A major accident was narrowly averted after a private bus suffered a brake failure in the busy Kottara area of Mangaluru on Monday.

According to reports, the bus developed a mechanical fault after its brakes failed while passing through the densely populated locality. Displaying remarkable presence of mind, the driver steered the vehicle away from traffic and intentionally rammed it into a roadside wall in an attempt to bring it under control and prevent a more serious mishap.

Despite the impact, the driver managed to stop the bus safely.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and both the driver and the passengers escaped unhurt. The incident caused brief panic in the area, while further details are awaited.
