Praveen Nettaru case accused K. Mohammad Itbal disqualified from Bellare Gram Panchayat

Sullia, Aug 30, 2025: The membership of K. Mohammad Itbal, a Bappare Gram Panchayat member from Bellare and an accused currently lodged in jail in the murder case of BJP youth leader Praveen Nettaru, has been cancelled.

Mohammad Itbal, the elected representative from Ward No. 1 of Bellare Gram Panchayat, failed to submit the mandatory declaration of assets and liabilities for the year 2024-25 within the stipulated time. Acting on the directions of the State Election Commission, he has been disqualified under Section 43(B)(4) of the Karnataka Gram Swaraj and Panchayat Raj Act, 1993. His post has also been declared vacant.

The Election Commission has formally communicated this decision to the Bellare Gram Panchayat through an official letter.
