Prasad Shetty Wins Gold at Asian Powerlifting Championship in Japan

Mangalore, Dec 9, 2011: In a n impressive performance Prasad Shetty of Mangalore has won one gold and two bronze medals at the Asian International Power Lifting Championship held at Kobe city in Japan from December 5 to 9. He had competed in the sub-junior category. Prasad Shetty, a student of St. Aloysius Pre University College, is the son of K. Chandrahas Shetty, a city businessman and his wife Mrs. Shashi Shetty.

 

 

In an impressive tally, weightlifters of Karnataka have won 18 medals for the Indian Team in the same event. Among them many of the medal winners are from Dakshina Kannada.  The winners include Neha H. who bagged two bronzes in the sub-junior category and M. Vinutha who got four silver medals in senior category. Both are students of SDM College, Ujire.

Vinay Kanchan won three silvers and one bronze in Master I category, while Anand N. got a silver medal in senior category. M Maheshwariah bagged three gold and one silver medal.

Sathish Kumar Kudroli was the coach of the Indian team and lead the delegation to Japan.
