In his protest speech, Vishwanath K, the lecturer of Nitte Educational Institution and Mangalore Zonal president of Karnataka Polytechnic Teachers’ Association, said that the AICTE pay scale ought to have been implemented from Jan 1, 2006, but the government was putting it off for one reason or the other. Calling this “unfair,” he said that the polytechnic lecturers have been waiting for the revised pay scales since 2006 and demanded pay equal to that of engineering college lecturers on behalf of the other protestors.

The evaluation work of the polytechnic examination began on Jan 7. Over 200 lecturers from Udupi and Dakshina Kannada participated in this protest.
