Police Commissioner Warns Against Harbouring Offenders

Mangaluru, June 1, 2025: City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy issued a stern warning on Saturday, May 31, stating that individuals aiding offenders will face strict action under the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Samhita (BNS).

In a video statement, Mr. Reddy emphasized that anyone, irrespective of their status, found harbouring criminals will be dealt with firmly to deter such actions. "Providing shelter, financial assistance, transportation, mobile phones, or any form of support to offenders falls under harbouring, and the police will invoke relevant BNS provisions to address these acts," he said.

The Commissioner urged the public to refrain from aiding accused individuals, particularly when aware of their involvement in criminal activities, as such actions directly violate the law.
