Pejawar Seer to go on hunger strike following removal of experts

Mangalore, Jan 7, 2012 : Vishwesha Teerth Swamiji, the chief of Pejawar Mutt, declared that he will fast for 3 days at a Padubidri-based temple to protest against the remove of two experts from the committee appointed to study the impact of Udupi Thermal Power Plant (UPCL) on the surroundings.


church1Recently, the state government removed T. B. Ramachandra and Y. B. Ramakrishna from the panel.

Labeling the move as “an insult” both to the people of Udupi as well as the committee, the swamiji informed reporters that the CM had informed him that Udupi District-in-charge Minister is responsible for the removal of these experts.

He also stated that he had decided to go on a hunger strike because he is not happy with the chief minister’s explanation.
