Pejawar Mutt seer issues deadline and warns of intense agitation

Mangalore, May 21: Pejawar Mutt Seer Shri Vishwesha Teertha Swamiji set a new deadline of July 13 for the government to denotify Mangalore Special Economic Zone’s second phase of land acquisition and to solve the environment problems related to the Nandikur thermal power plant.

The seer and social welfare activist told reporters that he has warned the state government to fulfil his demand by July 13 or face intense protests.
 
Although the government has stopped the process of acquiring land for the second phase of the MSEZ project, which requires 2,035 acres, it has not yet withdrawn the notification made under the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB). The seer warned that he will launch an agitation if the government fails to meet the given deadline.


Vidya Dinakar, the social activist, was also present during the press conference.


The seer also said that the Pejawar Mutt has undertaken a new philanthropic project to provide free hostels for students of all castes. A new hostel is scheduled to be inaugurated this June, he added and said that students from all castes including Dalits and backward classes studying in various schools and colleges can avail of this benefit. The residents of the hostel will receive religious education along with free food, shelter, and other facilities.


He urged interested candidates to apply to Shri Vijayawada Mandir of Pejawar Mutt from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon or 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
