Palemar distributes scholarships at BCF Educational Scholarship Meet

Mangalore, July 24: District-in-charge Minister Krishna J. Palemar distributed Rs. 12 lakh as scholarships among 220 PUC, degree, and PG students at the BCF Educational Scholarship Meet Mangalore 2011 organized by the Bearys Cultural Forum (BCF) in the Loyola Hall of St Aloysius Pre University College today. 


Dr. B. K. Yousuf, the president of BCF, presided over the programme and said that the BCF, which is based in Dubai, focuses on empowering the Beary community of coastal Karnataka by promoting education. The ultimate aim is to eliminate poverty, he added.

Among the prominent personalities present were Mangalore MLA U. T. Khader, BCF Scholarship Committee Chairman Dr. Kaup Mohammed, BCF General Secretary B. M. Farooq, Beary Welfare Association President N. B. Aboobakker, Islamic Cultural Centre General Secretary B. M. Mumthaz, DCC Minority Cell Chairman B. A. Moideen Bawa, Muslim Educational Institutes’ Federation President Mohammed Beary, and Akhila Bharatha Beary Parishad President Abdul Majeed Saralpady. 


A cultural programme depicting Beary values followed the formal stage programme. Shareef Neermunje, the noted Beary singer, entertained the audience.
