Udupi, Jan 19, 2014: The Paryaya procession of Sri Vishwa Vallabha Theertha Swamiji of Kaniyoor Mutt this time, set a new trend as far as the traditional Palanquin procession is concerned.
As suggested by Sri Vishwesha Theertha Swamiji of Pejawar Mutt, all, except one of the six seers who participated in the procession, sat on decorated palanquins placed in open vehicles.

However, Shiroor Seer Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji who had opposed the proposal, decided to have his way. However, he did not prefer the traditional palanquin but sat in an open jeep while the palanquin of his mutt was taken in another open jeep behind the vehicle he was seated.
That’s not all, an idol of Lord Ganapathi was also placed in the palanquin.
